The Mundelein Fire Department, in cooperation with
Boy Scouts of America, sponsors an Explorer Post. Mundelein Fire Department Post 196 was chartered in February of 1995 and currently has a roster of 17 members.
  
Learn first-hand how exciting the firefighters job is. Following an introductory training program right out of the course of study for Firefighter II. Fire Explorers will respond to real emergencies with firefighters and paramedics, and assist them by performing ancillary functions on emergency scenes.

Fire Explorers will not partake in any life threatening functions. Fire Explorers also assist with programs administered by the Mundelein Fire Department within the community. They will workaround the fire station, assisting with community relations, fire prevention, equipment and station maintenance.
  
Becoming a Fire Explorer is an excellent way to develop qualities and gain experience that will be helpful in growing for the future. The Explorer Post trains weekly at the fire station. If you are interested in the Explorer program, contact us at 1-847-949-3260 for further information. |
