GUIDLINES AND REGULATIONS FOR BURNING WITHIN VILLAGE LIMITS
The guidelines listed below are to be followed for open burning within the Village of Mundelein.
Two forms of open burning are allowed within the Village of Mundelein:
Portable outdoor fireplaces shall be used only on noncombustible surfaces and shall be operated no closer than fifteen feet (15') from any flammable structure.
Fuel for an outdoor fireplace shall consist of only seasoned, dry firewood and shall be ignited with a small quantity of paper. Leaves, landscape materials, paper, plywood, or trash shall not be burned in such fireplaces.
15.04.020 Prohibited acts.
(a) No person shall cause or allow within the boundaries of the village open burning of landscape waste as defined to include leaves, trees, tree trimmings, branches, stumps, brush, weeds, grass, shrubbery and yard trimmings. (b) No person shall cause or allow the burning of any refuse in any chamber or apparatus. (c) No person shall cause or allow within the boundary of the village any outside burning of any unharvested groundcover vegetation.
