Mundelein Fire Department Fire Alarm Requirements:

 

No person shall conduct or cause to be conducted, any test or demonstration of any alarm system or signaling device that is directly connected with the police department emergency communications center without first obtaining permission from the Mundelein police department emergency communications center personnel. Permission to test shall not be requested when the alarm system or signaling device is connected to an intermediary receiver and is not relayed to the police department emergency communications center.

• Required on all new commercial construction

• Must be designed Licensed Engineer
• Three set of prints are required, with cut sheets and battery calculations
• There is a plan review fee, of $35.00, plus square footage

• A fully functional annunciator panel is required by front door All buildings greater than 5000 square feet in size shall have installed an approved fire alarm annunciator panel (FAAP) inside of the main entrance or other location approved by the fire code official.

• Zone map is required by annunciator panel and fire alarm panel A zone map, encompassing a building floor plan and all fire alarm system components shall be provided near each Fire Alarm Control Panel and Fire Alarm Annunciator Panel.

• Duct detectors shall send a full fire signal
• Duct detectors shall reset through the panel
• Roof top units shall be identified to correlate with the duct detector

• Battery backup for alarm systems can be 24 hours

• AES Keltron Radio shall send a trouble, supervisory signal, and full alarm All fire alarms supervised by the Village of Mundelein Fire Dispatch System shall be transmitted via the Village of Mundelein Wireless Radio System.

• Signals shall go to the Mundelein Dispatch Center All required sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems shall be supervised by the Village of Mundelein Fire Dispatch Center.

• Knox Box shall not have a tamper switch installed in it Property owners or tenants shall be responsible for the proper installation and maintenance of such key lock boxes, at their expense, and shall agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Village, the Mundelein Fire Department, and their officers, employees and agents from any liability with respect to such key lock boxes.
• Call the Mundelein Fire Prevention Bureau 847-949-3260 24 to 48 hours ahead to schedule a test.
