CERTIf available, emergency services personnel are the best trained and equipped to handle emergencies, and you should use them.

 

 However, following a catastrophic disaster, you and the community may be on your own for a period of time because of the size of the area affected, lost communications, and unpassable roads.


CERT training is designed to prepare you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster.
 
Because emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, you can make a difference by using the training in this Participant Manual to save lives and protect property.

CHILD SAFETY SEATS

The single most important thing you can do to protect your children is to buckle them up properly every time. Child safety seats, when correctly installed and used, reduced the risk of death by up to 71%. They also reduce the need for hospitalization by 69% for children ages 4 and under. 

 

But finding the right seat can be confusing. It’s important to use a seat that is appropriate for your child’s age and size, and that fits properly in your vehicle. There are many factors to consider in determining the appropriate seat, but the most important are a child’s age and size. Every precaution should be taken to follow Flag Etiquette. The United States Flag Code, first adopted in 1924 and amended through the present, prescribes flag etiquette for a variety of instances ensuring that our national symbol is treated properly.

 

Every precaution should be taken to prevent the flag from becoming soiled. The U.S. Flag Code states, "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way.

 

The American Legion Post 867 and VVA Chapter 714 provide proper disposal and flag retirement ceremonies for the American flag. The Mundelein Fire Department serves as a local drop off for those American Flags that are no longer fit to display.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or "CPR" classes may be the most important classes you will ever take.

 

The Mundelein Fire Department, in cooperation with the Mundelein Park District, sponsors Community CPR classes.

 

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a combination of rescue breathing and chest compressions delivered to victims thought to be in cardiac arrest.
